Collaborations With NGOs

One Bite Design

One Bite Design is a Design NGO that bridges architecture and community, using creativity as a way of connecting the two forces. Art Foragers were invited to offer an arts based workshop with a focus on free space and community connection. We developed Experimental Printmaking sessions using materials easily found at home or in our trash. Members of the community were invited to learn, connect and explore their creativity together. We experienced initially timid participants who hadn’t played with paint for years, returning to our sessions with a spirit of permissive exploration that inspired new joiners to do the same. Safe spaces for safe creative explorations are assets for any thriving neighbourhood. New communities have slowly started to form around the project and Art Foragers continue to lean into this partnership, touting our contributions - an offer of non-linear, process and resource oriented experiments to promote health and expressions of health.

Body Banter

Body Banter is a local NGO that supports young people by advocating for positive body image and healthy relationship with the self, Art Foragers partnered with this formidable team to host nature based workshops, a welcomed departure from Hong Kong’s concrete jungle. These workshops led each individual to experience their relationships with themselves, each other and Mother Nature, Through a mixture of individual and communal art making, these workshops invited participants to find and take up their unique space within and with the group.

Sons & Daughters

Sons and Daughters is a local NGO, that works with people in the commercial sex industry, providing material, emotional, psychosocial and transitional support. In 2021, Art Foragers were invited to facilitate an art exploration for the volunteers which focused on recognising personal and communal resources to bolster against vicarious trauma and burnout, two critically common experiences for those in the helping professions. The arts became a vessel in which we delved into the intricacies, needs and the lived experiences of caretakers on a daily basis.
